The Singapore Public Sector Human Capital Conference 2008

The Singapore Public Sector Human Capital Conference 2008 was held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre on 28th October 2008, jointly organized by Public Service Division and Civil Service College. This is the third year that the conference event was held. The annual event brought together Public Service leaders, senior management, line managers and HR practitioners to build a shared understanding of the people priorities facing the Singapore Public Service, and to promote HR best practices and tools from both the public and private sectors.

The theme for the Singapore Public Sector Human Capital Conference 2008 was "Developing Leadership Capacity". Diverse perspectives from the public sector, private sector and Research were brought together to engage Conference participants on the challenge of Developing Leadership Capacity.

Ms Lim Soo Hoon, Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Division (Prime Minister's Office) gave her welcome address and Mr Peter Ho, Head of Civil Service delivered his opening address to the conference participants.

Colonel Sukhmohinder Singh, Head, SAF Centre of Leadership Development, SAFTI Military Institute, Singapore Armed Forces provided insights into the background leading to the formalisation of the SAF's behavioural leadership development framework in his topics on "Leadership Development in the Singapore Armed Forces".

Mr Charles A. Lim, Director, Human Resources, Asia, Procter & Gamble spoke about how P&G aligns its leadership development strategy to business goals, selects for leadership potential, and grows leadership capability in his presentation topic "Developing Leadership Capability in P&G".

Mr Michael Jenkins, Vice President, Center for Creative Leadership, Asia-Pacific presented the latest research findings on the 'Lessons of Experience' project of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) and the Civil Service College Consultants (CSCC) in his topic "Lessons of Experience: Research Findings on Developing Leaders in the Singapore Public Service".

The conference was facilitated by Ms Dawn Yip, Director & Principal Consultant, SoulBreath Consulting.
